LEGO TECHNIC Motorized Excavator
Posted by admin in Kids Gadgets on August 14th, 2010
Love building stuff of your own? The LEGO TECHNIC Motorized Excavator should not only be able to satisfy you, but your child as well. Of course, for something as complex as this, we would not expect him or her to be that young, but rather, at least 12 years old and above. After all, making a $199.99 purchase decision is never going to be easy for anyone especially in this day and age. When completed, what you get would be a fully remote controlled excavator that features double remote controls tracks which are able to run back and forth, alongside an arm which can be raised and lowered, carrying a shovel to dig. The cabin also works like the real deal, spinning a cool 360 degrees. The entire set comes with 1,123 LEGO pieces, so make sure you have a decent sized container to store everything. For more bang for your buck, it can also be rebuilt into a Tracked Loader.

Intersecting Slot Car And Train Set
Posted by admin in Kids Gadgets on August 13th, 2010
Buses and trains, cars and trucks. These are all favorite playthings for children, so why not get your holiday shopping done earlier this year with the Intersecting Slot Car And Train Set? It isn’t going to be cheap, mind you, burning a cool $299.95 in your pocket in the process, but at least this racing toy will bring together the throttle-happy thrill of a slot car set alongside the steady lumbering of a train set. Thanks to the track’s single intersection, it enables racers to replay that ever tense situation of beating the train to avoid high-velocity impacts, and it will require an innate sense of timing for your competitor to remain stranded at the crossing until the train passes. Hand-trigger controllers will be used to tear around the track’s seven curves, where one of them even includes a 180º hairpin turn for added challenge. The train itself comprises of a locomotive with a working headlight, four freight cars, and a caboose, and it can also move forward and reverse using the included transformer/controller. Each purchase comes with 11 pieces of track for slot car set, 15 pieces for the train set. Looks like kids aren’t the only ones to have fun with this…

Racing video game meets R/C car, with corrugated cardboard
Posted by admin in DIY Gadgets, Games Gadgets on August 5th, 2010
Once I saw this set-up, I knew that I had to report on it.
After all, it is a sit-down arcade racing game that uses a real car! Granted, it is a small, remote controlled car that goes around a corrugated cardboard track, but the R/C car has a camera so you can see as you are driving!
I have a video of it after the jump so you can see it in action, and you really should.
This looks like something that I would love to have in my own home. It would be like having a slot car set, but you could see what it was like behind the little wheel. Granted, this R/C car has to be picked up every time it rolls over after a bad curve.
It sort of makes you wonder what other video games could be improved by this little system. This particular thing looks like a racing game like Turbo and Pole Position, but what about a game of Battlezone with real tanks?
How about a version of Pac-man with a real maze and some sort of remote controlled chomping thing with a camera? I’m not certain what you would use for the ghosts though.

Remote Controlled Water Soaker
Posted by admin in Kids Gadgets on July 26th, 2010

Swimways offers all sorts of fun gadgets for out in the pool. One of them has already made it onto Coolest Gadgets and this one is just as awesome as the last. The other one was a game that required you to dive and search for the gadget as fast as possible. This one allows you to attack just about anyone that happens to come within shooting distance of the pool. This is the absolute perfect gift to give someone else’s kids for them to torture their parents with.
The toy comes with a water-resistant radio controller that will work whether it’s in or out of the water. The soaker itself is capable of shooting up to 20 feet away. That’ll make it possible to shoot at all sorts of people unwilling to dive into the pool themselves. To keep it powered it has a battery and a charger that are included with the package deal. You can pick up the Swimways R/C Water Soaker in either orange or green for $39.21 through Amazon.

Mario R/C Cars set to rock your (kids’) world
Posted by admin in Kids Gadgets on May 22nd, 2010

ThinkGeek aims to bring out the kid in you with the Mario R/C Cars set, where it will bring the game of Mario Kart into the real world. Of course, don’t expect these tiny R/C vehicles to be able to participate on tarmac tracks, but you can race on top of a kitchen table (we would personally prefer it to be done on the floor since it is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand with the remote control as well!) – just make sure you don’t steer your car off the table! You can choose between Mario, Luigi, Bowser, and Yoshi, where they can all move forward and backward and turn left and right, while a “dash” button offers an extra burst of speed when you need it the most – guess this works only once per race? All vehicles will come with a happy banana peel and Koopa Troopa shell which can be used as an obstacle on your racetrack. There is a 5-feet range for the controller, where it retails for $25.99 a pop.

Well, ThinkGeek has thought up of a solution – the RC Snap Circuits Rover that will introduce them to the world of robots and artificial intelligence, exposing them to what could possibly be the future SkyNet that rains death on mankind should it ever attain self-consciousness. Addictaball offers new puzzle for brainacs
Posted by admin in Kids Gadgets on February 17th, 2010
Folks who love nothing better than a good puzzle to wind down after a hard day’s work will find the Addictaball to be a decent alternative, as it comes in a small and large version to cater to different needs (at different prices, of course). This handheld game is not battery powered (now that’s a change!), which means you won’t get any fancy sound effects or flashing lights to go along with it. Despite the lack of all that pizzazz, it is still able to keep your gray matter more than happy. The concept of Addictaball involves twisting, turning and tilting this transparent orb in various directions so that you can guide a small metal ball through the 3D maze of platforms, holes and spirals which are suspended within. Guess anyone with shaky hands might want to give this a miss! Firebox is carry both the small and large versions for £6.99 and £11.99, respectively.
