LaCie LaCinema Classic HD
Posted by admin in Audio Gadgets on November 27th, 2009
A few days ago, LaCie introduced the “most complete HD multimedia hard drive player”. The LaCinema Classic HD is designed by Neil Poulton, and allows users to browse, play, and share HD media collections from anywhere in the home, directly on HDTV.
The LaCinema Classic HD has an external hard drive to load media from your Mac or PC. From there, it becomes quite easy to connect the HDTV for “instant playback” of your video, music, or even photo files. Did I mention that it holds more than 1 terabyte of storage? Well, it does.
It can also work in sync with your home network, which can act as a media server to stream content to compatible players like the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3. It plays DivX format from high-quality MKV H264 video format via HDMI 1.3 connection. It also has “uncompromising support for Dolby Digital audio quality enhances the LaCinema Classic HD, as well as your entertainment viewing experience”.
The LaCinema Classic HD has a “timeless and sleek design” that includes a remote control and easy navigation. There is a front USB port for connecting to a USB drive or digital camera.
You should be able to get the LaCinema Classic HD for about $249.99 on the LaCie website. Unfortunately, it is out of stock for now.

Iomega ScreenPlay HD Media Player gets Roxio CinemaNow
Posted by admin in Audio Gadgets on November 21st, 2009
Iomega have partnered with Sonic Solutions to introduce a new partnership that enables consumers to buy as well as rent premium entertainment right from the comfort of their living rooms, allowing them to view said entertainment on their own TV sets without having to leave the home. Available in time for the busy holiday season, upcoming U.S. models in Iomega’s award-winning ScreenPlay HD Media Player line will see the incorporation of the Roxio CinemaNow entertainment platform. This platform gives consumers instant access to purchase or rent movies and other premium content as long as they are connected to the Internet, where one can view said content on either standard or high definition TVs. Needless to say, if you’re going to dabble with high definition content, you would do well to make sure you’ve got a speedy Internet line in the first place.
The Roxio CinemaNow entertainment platform is able to dish up a wide range of premium content to what is deemed to be a growing trend- a multi-manufacturer ecosystem of home and mobile electronics that comprises of (but not limited to) PCs, connected TVs, set-top DVRs, Blu-ray Disc players, smart phones and mobile media devices. This platform allows retailers and consumer electronics companies to be part of the lucrative entertainment supply chain, with Roxio CinemaNow-powered stores allowing consumers rent and purchase high-quality entertainment instantly over their device of choice.
All downloaded content will be stored on the ScreenPlay product’s hard drive for future playback, giving you the freedom to purchase a movie in the morning and returning home at night to watch it. Of course, this isn’t a new idea, but it is nice to see more and more companies taking up the challenge and making a name for themselves in this market. Each Iomega ScreenPlay HD Media Player comes with network connectivity, wireless capability via a separate USB Wi-Fi dongle, up to 1TB of onboard storage capacity, high definition video support, USB 2.0 connectivity and support for a wide range of codecs and file types. Expect the new Iomega ScreenPlay HD Media Player range equipped with Roxio CinemaNow to be announced soon.
