Belkin iPod GoStudio Recorder is so petite
Posted by admin in Audio Gadgets, iPod Gadgets on September 3rd, 2010

I had thought that the trend with gadgets was to keep making them smaller and smaller, no matter how easy it makes them to lose. Sure, this will make it so that you can record things directly to your iPod, but it’s twice the size of a normal tape recorder. Something has just gone horribly backwards here. I know, it offers all sorts of features, but as a fan of the sleek and portable it’s hard to get past the size. Then again maybe you’ll be happy to have a gadget again that has some meat on its bones.
This records directly to your iPod in 16 bit, 44kHz digital audio quality. It has 2 built-in microphones and 2 combo microphone inputs. It also has the obvious built-in speaker that’ll let you play back what you’ve just recorded. The Belkin GoStudio was designed for podcasters, journalists, teachers, students and anyone else that might still be using a sleek and barely noticeable, yet horribly outdated tape recorder. Shame on you for carrying around that outdated tech. Sure it’s smaller and looks better, but you just can’t do that! You should immediately get rid of it and invest $109.06 at Amazon for one of these, because it’s shiny…. and new.

Hello Kitty iPod Dock
Posted by admin in Audio Gadgets, iPod Gadgets on September 2nd, 2010

I can’t say that I’ve ever quite understood the Hello Kitty trend. However, I am a big believer in companies offering several docks and speakers to fit a wide range of tastes. You shouldn’t be stuck with a plain black set of speakers if you’re a pink and white fanatic. Those of you that are into Hello Kitty or have a relative that is can pick up this dock for a not too bad price.
It comes in white as well as an all over pink version. This Japanese dock has surface mounting technology and lossless energy amplication technology. It offers 360-degree sound output that’ll keep it from sounding like a novelty speaker that you just picked up because it featured your favorite cat. It quite obviously features an iPod dock, but you can also plug other audio devices in through the stereo output. You can pick one of these up for 14,800 yen or about $175.

Apple Releases new line of small and powerful iPods
Posted by admin in Audio Gadgets, iPod Gadgets on September 1st, 2010
Steve Jobs announced smaller and thinner iPods today at Apple’s Fall Music Event. With smaller, new designs for the iPod Shuffle, iPod Nano and a thinner, more powerful iPod Touch, Apple is poised to hit the entertainment market in music, movies and gaming like never before. And just in time for the Holidays.
Let’s start with the iPod shuffle. As if it couldn’t get smaller, it does. And the best part is, Apple has brought back buttons along with voiceover to make navigation of songs easier. The Shuffle is a tad larger than your thumb, has a clip, and has over 15 hours of battery life. In 5 colors (Blue, Pink, Green, Yellow, and Silver), the Shuffle will sell for $49 for 8GB.
The biggest change has come in the iPod Nano, which is now 46% smaller and is multi-touch. That means that Apple has dumped the control wheel and gone to complete touch navigation. It’s slightly larger than the Shuffle, which shows how small it really has become. Apple has dropped the video camera feature but has brought in a clip to make it easier to wear (which is great for athletes and runners) , has an FM Radio, Nike Pedometer, and 24 hours of battery life. Comes in seven colors (the same colors as the shuffle plus black and red) and starts at $149.
Lastly, is the new iPod Touch, which has Apple’s blazing A4 processor and Apple’s pioneering HD Retina display with four times more pixels and an ultra sharp 326 ppi and 24-bit color. The iPod also sports the 3-axis gyro control and Apple also announced GAME CENTER, a social networking vehicle which will allow players to take on each other via WiFi in cyberspace playing a wide variety of games including a new game from Epic Games called Project Sword, and action packed RPG adventure with action happening in real time.
Additionally, the Touch will be able to take advantage of dual cameras and FaceTime with which it can communicate to iPhone 4 users and iPod Touch users over WiFi Video conferencing. And the latest iTunes has a great new social network called PING which enables fans to listen to new music from friends playlists, comment socially about it and download them on the spot. The iPod will also enjoy high dynamic range photography and HD video and be able to edit courtesy of the iMovie App.
The new iPod Touch goes on sale next week, just in time for Christmas for $229 / 8GB, $299/32GB and $399/64GB. With gaming, music, and HD movies, the new iPod Touch is going to be a hot item come Christmas.

NTT’s “t-room” is almost like being there
Posted by admin in Audio Gadgets on August 27th, 2010
I realize that this picture looks like two ordinary people shaking hands, but what is actually going on is far more technical and far more complex.
This photo comes from my Source, who was at NTT’s Showroom at Tokyo and got a chance to try out the “t-room”. Yes, that is what they call it, and is actually is very similar to sitting down for tea.
Here is a brief explanation of what the t-room does. A person stands in this small circular room that is surrounded by person-sized video screens. They can see an image of the person they are talking to, who is in another t-room somewhere. This allows for some video conferencing that is exponentially better than FaceTime on the iPhone 4. You can watch the video after the jump to see what is up.
In the photo, you see these two people shaking hands. In actuality, only the man is real, and has just overlapped his hand with the image on the screen.
Not only is the t-room good for video conferencing, but it is possible for the user on either end to program a different background. For example, the user gets to see the Aurorae in the video. Not only can the background change, but the user can put windows of information on display, as if life was one big Powerpoint Presentation. You can also see that in the video, along with some weird time-delay feature. If you haven’t watched the video by now, then I don’t know how many more hints I can drop to get you to watch it.
I’ve had a lot of phone calls and video conferences in my time, but I think the most life-like communication that I could experience, other than being there, is with the t-room.

Dexim P-Flip Power Dock
Posted by admin in Audio Gadgets, iPod Gadgets on August 22nd, 2010
Another day, another iPod/iPhone charger hits the market. The Dexim P-Flip Power Dock aims to be different from the rest (don’t they all), where £39.99 will net you a compact, stylish yet powerful charger that comes in a special folding design. All you need to do whenever your iPod touch or iPhone is running out of juice would be to flip the Dexim P open and have it work on juicing up said device’s battery. LEDs will be used to indicate the charge level of the device, offering up to 8 more hours of talk time on your iPhone, or roughly the equivalent of 15 hours of gaming time as well as 60 hours of audio enjoyment. Apart from that, the Dexim will also synchronize your iPhone or iPod touch whenever either device is docked, making sure you will have the latest information on the device at all times.

iPod Lamp offers sound and light
Posted by admin in Audio Gadgets, iPod Gadgets on August 19th, 2010
Most lamps are just that, offering light at the touch or press of a switch. Well, the iPod Lamp from Hammacher works differently, and as you can tell by its name, it will be able to play nice with an iPod thanks to its built-in iPod dock complete with speakers. This will definitely help you save whatever little space you have left in your cramped apartment (that’s the case these days what with a global population explosion). You can dock either an iPod or iPhone, where the two 10-watt speakers won’t bring the house down, but they ought to be good enough to keep a small room filled with music. A quartet of buttons control on/off for the lamp and audio, not to mention its volume as well. If you have another non-Apple portable media player, it works just as well via the auxiliary input. 3G iPod owners are out of luck though with this $199.95 thingamajic.
