Flexible Mini Capsule Microphone for iPhone 3GS

brando-mic

So you’ve gotten yourself a brand new iPhone 3GS and think that it is the bee’s knees – well here’s news for you. It isn’t exactly the best device out there, as there still isn’t anything which can do everything well, and the iPhone 3GS is no exception. One of its major weaknesses would be less-than-satisfactory sound quality when recording, which is why the new Flexible Mini Capsule Microphone from Brando was introduced – it is highly flexible, allowing you to point the microphone on its swiveling base to receive sound from any direction, and doing so with a 25+ dB gain for enhanced sound clarity and quality. Compatible with the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPhone 2G and iPod Nano 4G, you will be able to pick up this nifty device for $14.

BlockBuster to put Movies on SD cards

blockyBlockbuster definitely felt the pain when Netflix caught on, and it has been years since I have been to a Blockbuster video outlet. (Probably because most of them have closed down.) I generally use that whole RedBox thing, assuming I even want to rent a movie these days.

Yes, it seems that Blockbuster was a little slow to realize that the days of traditional movie rentals is ending, but they have a new plan that could easily put them on top, as far as video rentals are concerned.

Blockbuster intends to start a new program that would involve the kiosks that you see here. All you would need to do is insert your own SD card, and then pick what movie you want to watch.

The movie is then loaded onto that card, and you can take it with you and watch it on whatever media that you prefer. These movies are DRMed and will expire after a certain date, so you don’t have to worry about returning the movie at all.

Surely this is the future of video rental, but isn’t there technology to stream the latest videos into our homes now? I suppose this would be a low-cost alternative, but not everyone has SD card readers on their televisions. My laptop doesn’t even have a card reader, and it’s only a few years old. It makes you wonder why Blockbuster didn’t choose to use USB Flash drives as the medium for this new technology.

Brando’s SPY Wireless Camera Pen comes with PMP

WirelessSpyCamPen_11_640xThis would not be the first time we reported on a Spy Camera Pen, and it probably won’t be the last, either. Normally, spy stuff made for the consumer looks pretty shabby compared to the technology in James Bond or Mission Impossible movies, but this one from our old friends at Brando looks quite decent.

The SPY Wireless Camera Pen + PMP comes in two parts, a transmitter and a receiver. The Transmitter is the pen itself, that transmits with 2.4 GHz. It has a rechargeable battery powered by USB and shoots 640 x 480 video with a lens that no one would ever see unless they looked really close. The lens is positioned perfectly for secret shooting in one’s breast pocket.

The receiver is essentially a PMP with a 3.5 inch screen. Not only can it pick up what the camera is seeing, but it is good for playing all kinds of formats, such as MP3, WMA, MP4, FLV, not to mention JPEGs and e-books. It has 2GB worth of memory built in to it, and expandable with the TF/Micro SD Card slot. It also has a TV out so you can see what you want on a bigger screen.

Not bad for a price of $159. You can get it right now if you head over to the Brando Site.

Bike Crash Cam

I have a friend of mine who was riding his bike to work and was hit by a bus. The bus driver did very little to help him, except to give him a ride. Unfortunately, my friend had some bad head wounds that had to be treated by a doctor, and we all know how expensive that can get.

If my friend had the Bike Crash Cam, he would have had everything he needed for a lawsuit. This particular device that you see here can be mounted on the handlebars, and films with a resolution of 1280 x 1024.

The battery is completely rechargeable, using an AC adaptor, car charger, or USB cable. All the video footage is filmed in AVI or MPEG-4 and is stored on a Micro SD Card with a maximum memory of 32GB.

So, if my friend had the Bike Crash Cam, he could have taken the video footage to a lawyer who would have gladly represented him. Hopefully the camera’s wide angle lens and special mode for capturing escaping vehicles could get a shot of a hit-and-run’s license plate.

The Bike Crash Cam is available from our old friends at Brando, who makes devices like the MP4 Watch. You should be able to purchase it at the Brando site for about $266.50.
