wUnderglow Wheelchair Light

For those of you who are recuperating in a wheelchair to get about, how about adding some zest to your ordinary adventures with the wUnderglow Wheelchair Light? After all, it not only enhances night-time visibility but provides a fun “underglow” effect similar to those colored light tubes as found on the underside of some rice rockets. A white micro-light is there to light your way, while multi-colored strobing micro-lights make room for added visibility and an “underglow”. A 360-degree rotatable clip allows you to point light in any direction, and batteries are easily replaced. A single wUnderglow Wheelchair Light kit will cost $25.

DIY Fork Head iPhone stand

Holding up your iPod while you’re seated with a desk in front of you can be pretty tiring on your hand(s) after a couple of hours into the movie, and the constant shifting does not make for a decent viewing experience. However, getting one of those iPod holders does not seem worth it to you, so what do you do next? Enter the DIY Fork Head iPhone stand – this fantastic idea uses unwanted forks and spoons to get the job done, but you will need steady hands to shape it accordingly, and we would highly recommend encasing your iPod in some sort of protective shield.

DIY hack of Mindflex has shocking implications

I just got finished reporting about a pinball machine that you can control with your mind at CeBIT, and that, in my opinion, is a good use for brain-interface technology. Now, you are about to see a bad one.

This DIY gadget uses a MindFlex, a device that we have reported on before. It is a toy created by Mattel that allows the user/player to control the height of a ball via brainwave interface and “levitate” it through an obstacle course.

The video that you see after the jump is of someone who rigs the Mattel Mindflex to a battery. The object of his new device is to achieve a state of total relaxation. If the player/victim concentrates, even if it is on not concentrating, they will experience an electric shock.

Yes, that is sort of sick, and the video is also sort of sick. Then again, it is designed so we can laugh at another person’s pain, sort of like watching reality TV.

My source has speculated that someone could rewire this device so it would shock you if you didn’t concentrate enough. No matter how this device is wired, mass production of such a device in any form would really produce a very Orwellian society.

Well, the video has a website in case you want to make one of these yourself, but you might have some issues if you want to do this.

Lego Star Wars Foosball Table

Now how cool is that – a Lego Star Wars Foosball Table which sees all of the foosmen being replaced by Lego Star Wars mini-figs? Imagine that, and more – this epic table is a definite win since the whole table itself is made out of Lego bricks – yes, you read that right. The entire table is one fantasy piece of Lego land, and we’re just stoked to see and read about the dedication of some people on this planet who are able to come up with some amazing things from time to time when one puts their heart, mind and soul to it, with this being one of them. When will a Star Trek version come out to appease those Trekkies?

Guppie is one tool to rule them all

We have reported on the Lil Guppie before, and I suppose that this is the next step up, the Guppie. Actually, I think that this Guppie is the same as the Lil Guppie, just like Lil Bow Wow is the same as Bow Wow. (Oh, why do those young rappers put Lil in front of their names? Don’t they know that they will grow out of the Lil?)

This Guppie is one tool that I would have in my pocket, possibly the only one. The Guppie has an adjustable wrench with the crescent wrench adjuster worm gear. It also has a flip-out knife, and an LED flashlight, but I don’t see it in my picture. Did I mention the beer bottle opener? It’s got one, and I’m guessing its by its weird flip-up handle.

It also has a screwdriver with some magnetic heads, and the user can add his or her own.

All in all, the Guppie is the one tool to rule them all, like it says in my headline. By the way, there have been many a geek who has used that one (insert pronoun here) to rule them all headline. It probably isn’t worth it to use it again.

I’m not certain why it is called the Guppie. Is that because it is fish shaped, like a guppy? By the way, if you run a search on Guppie, one definition is “a gay yuppie”. Not something I would name a tool after, and I definitely wouldn’t have put “Lil” in front of it.

Wiimote proton pack ain’t afraid of no ghost

If there is one franchise that shouldn’t be overdone, it is Ghostbusters. I mean, it had one glorious film in 1984 that is still funny, though the special effects look fake. It is a shame that the Ghostbusters II wasn’t the beginning of a whole slew of good Ghostbusters films, or at least a tacked-on trilogy.

There is currently a Ghostbusters game that is available on all consoles, and one fan has created a controller for the Wii platform with this.

According to my source, the “cyclotron” features the four blue LEDs that let’s you know the player selected. There is also a Blue Power cell to let you know how much the power pack has. You can’t see it in this photo, but the blaster is designed to house the Wiimote and Nunchuck in place.

The proton pack was clearly modeled over the ones that Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and the other guy wore from the original films, and it gets points for detail, even though the color is wrong. The creator clearly designed his proton pack to match the sterile white of the Nintendo Wii and not the black proton pack from the films.

Yes, this is a DIY creation, but the creator needs to find someone to market this. I’ve been hearing for a long time that Ghostbusters III has been in the works. Perhaps this particular toy could work with the video game from the film.

Enlighted offers lighted capes and cloaks

Enlighted is a company that certainly knows how to help you make a fashion statement in front of everyone else – it offers a light-up cape or cloak, so never mind if you have a symbol of a bat across your chest, or come dressed in red and blue leotards with the ability to stick onto ceilings and walls with uncanny ease – both Batman and Spiderman won’t be able to draw in the chicks at a party since they lack the “oomph” factor associated with your lighted cape. We’re pretty sure that Darth Vader or the Emperor would specially commission one of these puppies during their Sith parties.

CubeStormer solves Rubik’s Cubes in ten seconds

I thought I’d give you readers at Coolest Gadgets a Friday treat with the CubeStormer.

The CubeStormer was designed by British engineer Mike Dobson, and it is made up of parts from several Lego Mindstorms sets connected to a computer. It is designed to solve a Rubik’s cube faster than any one of those cubists back in the early eighties.

You can watch the video after the jump, but you can see someone put a 3

DIY Wi-Fi Detecting Bumper Sticker

wifi-bumper-sticker-detects-WiFi-450x337

You probably remember the Wi-Fi detecting t-shirt that allows for you to light up every single time the shirt detects a signal.  Well now someone has taken that same shirt and found a way to turn it into a bumper sticker.  That way you have all of those wi-fi detecting abilities while you’re on the road.  Of course it’ll require you to do a little work all on your own, but then your car will be branded with the area’s Wi-Fi capabilities.

Just go to the Instructables page and they lay everything out for you.  Including giving you a link for the cheapest place to buy the shirt.  In addition to the shirt you’ll need some double stick tape, a 12v to 5v USB car adapter and some industrial double stick foam tape.  Then just follow through on the steps that they have listed.  After you’ve finished with the project all you have left is to decide whether to face it towards the inside for your own viewing pleasure.  That or you could show it off out the back of the window for the rest of the world to see.

Headless USB Barbie

headless-usb-barbie

Barbie must’ve been an unrecorded wife of Henry VIII – as she has to undergo a decapicitation each time you want to access data within her. Hmmm, who says blondes are dumb, considering the amount of memory she holds within? Definitely one of the creepier DIY USB flash drive projects, and it might traumatize some of the smaller girls around who love their Barbies to death, but it sure is one of the more interesting DIY weekend project to indulge yourself in. What are some of the other zanier USB flash drive mods that you have come across so far? Get your instructions from where else but Instructables.
