So your little one has been hankering after you for a new tablet, considering how you do your very best to prevent him or her from coming anywhere near your iPad each time you come home from work? You know the drill – as much as you want to let your kid enjoy some games on the iPad, you know that he is still trying to get his body’s co-ordination right, so walking or running around with the iPad in hand is not exactly the best idea, since a slip of the fingers or a fall would mean a crying child and the very high possibility of a broken display – not something you can afford right now, what with austerity measures being introduced just about everywhere else.
Apart from purchasing an old, first generation iPad from someone else, you might as well go all the way and deliver a tablet that has a specific target – the little ones. There is just something about Alvin and the Chipmunks being revived, where their past three movies actually combined to rake in more than $1 billion from box office receipts alone. I know, this is no Avengers, but it is still quite the achievement for a trio of high pitched chipmunks that would make for a decent meal for select jungle tribes out there. Enter the Archos Child Pad that has an Alvin and the Chipmunks 3 theme in place.
This unique Archos Child Pad will come in a compact and lightweight design, not to mention run on a 1GHz processor, accompanied by 1GB RAM while having Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as the operating system of choice. Pretty neat, since that would mean not having to loiter around and keeping your fingers crossed for an operating system update which might not even arrive in the end.
To make sure that your kids love it to the max, it will feature special Alvin and the Chipmunks 3 content like behind-the-scene clips, images from the movie, wallpapers, and even an online game. If they want something more feathery, there is always the pre-loaded Angry Birds game to keep them occupied, and as a parent, you will be pleased to know that this $129.99 tablet comes pre-loaded with a 6-month parental control application for child-safe web browsing. It boasts of a redesigned interface that features colored icons and folders to deliver direct access to games, apps and books, and has 4GB of internal memory to get you started.

Forget about the Tissot, Rolex or Tag Heuer, those are luxury timepieces that cost thousands of dollars, and can be passed off as family heirlooms as well. Unfortunately, they are way too formal for my liking, and you cannot really wear those with just a pair of jeans and a T-Shirt. Instead, if you are one who is way more casual, you might want to look into something different that will help set you apart – such as the Wall Switch Watch for instance.
The name itself gives the game away – it is basically a timepiece that you wear around your wrist, and toggling the switch will let you know the current time, while pressing the switch again will show you the date. This minimalistic presentation does not have any fancy bells or whistles. If you are interested, the Wall Switch Watch will retail for $150, although right now, it is for sale at a discounted price of $100.

Between a silent movie with drop dead gorgeous visuals, or a sweeping, majestic soundtrack, which would you choose? It would definitely be a hard choice for some, as some of us are more inclined towards music, while others are more visual folks. The thing is this – the best would be an amalgamation of both, but sometimes, you can only choose one. This time around is slightly different – let us say that you have a high end gaming rig or one of the largest flat screen displays in the living room around your neighborhood. How about attending to the audio aspect?
This is where the Sonos SUB wireless subwoofer comes in handy. Do discount the fact that the company known as Sonos is still relatively young compared to the other more established players in the market such as Bang & Olufsen as well as Bowers & Wilkins, as Sonos was just founded in 2002 – a relatively young decade old. Since then, however, they have not short changed consumers at all, where Sonos has proven themselves to be consistent in rolling out quality wireless Hi-Fi systems. Let us take a closer look at how the Sonos SUB wireless subwoofer works right after the jump.
Basically, the Sonos SUB wireless subwoofer has every intention of filling up your home with bass, and it will do so far more compared to any current Sonos setup. Specially designed to complement the already impressive sonic capabilities of Sonos amplified products including the CONNECT:AMP, the PLAY:3 and the PLAY:5, this particular device will throw in a generous amount of throbbing bass into the mix. Sonos claims that the system settings will be automatically adjusted to balance the SUB with the output from any paired Sonos device in order to deliver nothing but the very best mix.
Apart from that, there is also a simple, one-button setup procedure, allowing the unit to be controlled over the dedicated Sonos Controller or dedicated free Android/iOS apps on mobile devices. Features of the Sonos SUB wireless subwoofer include a couple of state-of-the-art Class-D digital amplifiers within an acoustically dead proprietary resin outer shell with maximum internal air volume, and built-in digital signal processing circuitry. It will come in just one shade – Gloss Black, when it arrives this June 19th for $699 a pop.

Companies will need to constantly reinvent themselves if they were to survive and even flourish – and in the world of high tech devices and gadgets, this saying holds true all the more. Diversifying your portfolio is always a great way to spread the amount of risk, as not all of your eggs are in a single basket. Of course, there is also the flip side to this, as some claim that being a specialist in your field is also a good thing, but regardless, it depends on the context, the chances that come your way, as well as your management of the situation.
Having said that, GameStop, a games retailer, has recently announced that they will soon be offering Android-powered tablets to the masses via its massive chain of retail stores. This has been confirmed, with the green light given by the top management after a 200 store trial kicked off since last October.
These will definitely not be your two bit Android-powered tablets though, as GameStop intends to live up to their name as a games retailer by preloading the Samsung, Asus, Acer, and Toshiba makes by throwing in additional gaming titles including the old school Sonic CD, Riptide, the Kongregate Arcade app as well as a free issue of GameStop’s gaming mag, titled Game Informer. These additions will also feature prices that are in line with what other stores are offering, meaning you get more bang for your buck as a gamer, and it might just help GameStop gain a small foothold in the tablet market.
Granted, GameStop has not been in the best of financial health lately, so to see them take different measures such as this is certainly encouraging, as it tells the world that they are working on a way to get around the problem of bleeding money. Kudos for their efforts – hopefully they will be rewarded accordingly for it. Do you think that Android-powered tablets have a chance to actually gain a decent foothold in the mobile gaming market?

Don’t you just love the way you are able to do just about anything with an iPhone? “There’s an app for that”, or so the saying goes, and with the $69.99 iDrum which will start shipping at the end of this month onwards, you are able to make music with seven drums – virtual drums, that is. After all, the iDrum is a seven piece drum kit that will hook up to your iPhone, iPod touch and iPad sans wires, relying on Bluetooth connectivity to get the job done. Just like how you need not judge a book by its cover, so too, should you not judge the effectiveness of the iDrum by its size.
With the free iDrum Sound System app, you are able to jam alongside your favorite music with many styles to choose from. Heck, there is even the option of recording and playing back your drum sessions, and for those who want to pick up drumming, you can learn how to drum along using pre-programmed songs. Apart from that, there are additional free iDrum games in the Dream Cheeky Arcade that you can kill time with – talk about having a smashing session anytime, anywhere without having to rent a studio! The thing is, the iDrum will not turn you into a drumming legend overnight…

I’m sure its no surprise that I’m a huge fan of video games. It’s not uncommon to find me on a caffeinated beverage bender up all night playing Halo or some other first person shooter game and talking to myself. Problem is, when you’re up all night, no one gets to see the action but you… and no matter how I try and explain my overnight dealings with the Covenant, my stories never seem to do it justice.
Meet Elagato’s Game Capture HD and never miss being able to replay another Banshee invasion. The Game Capture HD is a cool, standalone HD video capture box, which will allow you to record PS3 or Xbox 360 HD gameplays to an internal or an external hard drive, all without a PC.
Recording your Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii gaming accomplishments is now a pretty simple task. All you need to do is connect the Game Capture HD to your game console with the included component cables, and all the action is yours to keep! One Click and the Game Capture HD lets you record, and preview live game footage in 1080i resolution, or just take screenshots during live action, or even during playback.
Your recordings and screenshots can be moved between connected drives for portability and sharing with friends and family. (you know, the ones that went to bed) and the unit comes with a built in 2.5″ HDD slot, a remote control, component cable, RCA audio cable and a power adaptor. Please visit Newegg.com for videos or information, or to purchase Game Capture HD for under 140 bucks. I’m pretty sure I dated myself with the Halo reference…do people even play Halo anymore?
Rovio of Finland has certainly come up with a hit of game with the Angry Birds franchise, and here they are with their latest launch, the Angry Birds Land which recently opened up within Sarkanniemi Amusement Park itself in Tampere, Finland. This is officially the first theme park of its kind that is based on the Angry Birds franchise, going great lengths to show just how far the addictive smartphone game has become. Of course, we did hear about an unlicensed Angry Birds park appearing in China last year, but this is the real deal here in Finland.
According to Sarkanniemi Adventure Park CEO Miikka Seppala, “We wanted to create a unique themed area and associate it with a strong and well-known brand.” I guess they have pretty much cornered the market in terms of a well known brand, as the Angry Birds franchise too, will be going through the paces in being developed into a major motion picture. Would you prefer going to Disneyland or the Angry Birds Land?

Google has just released the first video ever shot with their Project Glass, an eyewear concept that seemingly hails from the future. The video was recorded with the wearer having some fun, jumping around and performing 360-degree flips on a trampoline. Heck, there was at least one instance where a backflip was performed, and I must say that the Project Glass performed admirably, as it remained stuck to the wearer throughout the entire duration. Wearing this during a roller coaster ride, however, might prove to be a very different story altogether as the G forces might work against the pair of Google glasses.
Google’s co-founder Sergey Brin have already been caught wearing a pair of these in the past, while other images of the Project Glass being worn has also been captured for posterity’s sake in the past. This, a video, is a first of its kind, and looks set to make Internet history. Google did reveal, however, that a commercial release of Project Glass happening this year is highly unlikely, so do not waste your time keeping your fingers crossed for a pair to be released later this year.

Are you in the market for a new pair of headphones? You will not go wrong then, if you have a couple of Benjamins to spare, with the V-MODA Crossfade M-80 White Pearl headphones. After all, this pair will come in a color that most of you would go nuts over, especially when the white iPod was first released all those years ago, followed by the white iPhone that kept consumers on the toes with anticipation and excitement. This stylish new color is composed of white with silver metal accents for that added a touch of class.
This smart and sophisticated design has been masterfully crafted in order to match just about any ensemble that brings any fashion, music and mobile technology under one roof. This particular pair of headphones have been authentically tuned by a legion of legendary musicians, Grammy-Award winning producers and audiophiles, delivering professional acoustics, natural noise isolation, ultimate ergonomics and military-level ruggedness without sacrificing on comfort.
Not only that, there is the inclusion of new SpeakEasy microphones that are said to deliver crystal clear calls even when the world around you is crumbling down in the face of an alien invasion. I’m kidding here, it actually means it works great even if you are in a loud environment. After all, it was specifically designed and tuned for voice recognition apps such as Siri, so the M-80 would be the ultimate symbol of sophistication in sound and style.
Val Kolton, founder of V-MODA, said, “The M-80 has won over the audiophile community with hundreds of accolades, reviews and awards. Now we’re widening the appeal to fashionistas with an ‘ABCP’ philosophy, Anything But Circles and Plastic. Headphones have become an essential accessory like fine watches, shoes, and handbags and we feel you shouldn’t wear carbon-copy cheap plastic around your head. Additionally, we felt it was imperative to focus as much on the microphones as the sound so that you can have a conference call or command your voice apps while walking down the street. Our new SpeakEasy microphones are as superior as the M-80’s sound.”
