Eko Stoplight gives countdown on red light
Posted by admin in Car Gadgets on November 30th, 2009

No one enjoys sitting at a stoplight. As you sit there you get to contemplate all kinds of things. Like wondering how much of your life has been wasted waiting on stoplights. Then you notice you’ve been sitting there a good long while and begin to wonder if the light will ever change. Then comes the agitation and impatience. Well instead of wondering how long you’ll be at that ridiculous light, you could know exactly how much time you have left if only your city would install these Eko Stoplights.
It shows you just how much time you have left by counting down. This design by Damjan Stanković was actually created for its eco-friendly benefits. With this timer you’d be able to casually sit at the light and know just how long you have. Which means you could shut off your engine to reduce the amount of gas you’re burning up while you’re sitting still. Personally I’m just excited at the idea of getting a visual reminder of how much time I have left.

ESPN Better Batter has automatic reload and baseball sound effects
Posted by admin in Kids Gadgets on November 30th, 2009

Teaching your kids to hit a baseball is a bit of a trying task. Of course, that’s partially because you’re handing your child a bat that probably will at some point hit you instead of the ball. Plus normally you’re using a tee to teach them. Once they hit the ball you usually have to pick up the tee and go find the baseball. With this Fisher-Price product it would at least solve the problems you’d normally have with a normal tee. Besides wearing full body armor though, there’s no quick fix to keep your child from injuring you.
This ESPN Better Batter has a mechanical arm that drops down and picks up a baseball. In order to activate that arm, you just have to tap the plate and it’ll automatically load the ball. The batter comes with baseball “chatter” as well as ESPN music to add a little atmosphere. It’s meant for ages 3 and up, plus it’ll adjust to accommodate kids as they grow. It runs on 3 C alkaline batteries, which aren’t included. You can purchase it for $50 through Fisher-Price.

Interactive Toy Concepts Skidoo RC Snowmobile
Posted by admin in Kids Gadgets on November 29th, 2009

Remote controlled cars are always fun, but come wintertime they’re isolated to the indoors. It’s not the wisest to take your brand new RC car and put it in a bunch of wet snow. Then parents are stuck listening to the car run into walls indoors instead of being able to send the kids outdoors with it. However, if they have this Skidoo RC Snowmobile, the kids wouldn’t be stuck inside.
This snowmobile isn’t slowed down by some silly snow. Then to top it off, it’ll still work in all the usual places like carpet, grass or driveways. The 17” scale replica snowmobile has a working taillight and headlight. The skis can be changed out to make it possible for it to run on different surfaces. It uses a 9.6V Ni-Cd that is included and a 9V which is not. It’s meant for ages 8 and up, and can be purchased for $79.99 through Amazon.

Micro Sport Japanese MP3 Player
Posted by admin in Audio Gadgets on November 28th, 2009
Which is the smallest MP3 player that you’ve come across? Most people would say the iPod shuffle, while others will rememeber of the MobiBLU Cube fondly. Well, the Micro Sport Japanese MP3 Player clearly lives up to its name, redefining the word “tiny” and bringing it to new heights (or should we say, size?)
The Micro Sport Player is two sugar cubes worth of electronics into which somehow is crammed 4GB of memory and a rechargeable battery. Amazingly this tiny player features full stereo sound. One earbud is attached directly to the side of the main unit, while the other earbud trails on a cord around the back of your head, just reaching the opposite ear. Loading music is incredibly easy. Simply plug the Micro Sport into the USB port of your computer. It mounts like a USB thumb drive, and you simply copy over any MP3 files you want to play.
ThinkGeek is carrying it for $89.99 – pretty hefty price considering the paltry amount of storage space that you get, but at least you know your money went into the miniaturization of things.

Water-Powered Can Clock
Posted by admin in Clock Gadgets on November 27th, 2009

If you have an area that you could really use just a normal clock, you might as well make it an eco-friendly one. Sure, you could just hang a battery powered wall clock just as easily, but then you’re stuck buying batteries. With this all you have to do is remember to refill it with water and thankfully you don’t even have to do that very often. These clocks would be great to sit on a desk or tabletop to make it easier to keep track of the time.
The water in the can will actually last between 6 to 12 months before you need to add water to the clock. Which means the clock won’t really take any more maintenance than a normal clock with batteries would. Plus, since it doesn’t require batteries it’ll also run cheaper than the rest. When you combine the fact that it runs cheaply with it being a cheap clock to begin with, it makes it an ideal arrangement. You can purchase it for £9.99 or about $16 through Green Stamp.

LaCie LaCinema Classic HD
Posted by admin in Audio Gadgets on November 27th, 2009
A few days ago, LaCie introduced the “most complete HD multimedia hard drive player”. The LaCinema Classic HD is designed by Neil Poulton, and allows users to browse, play, and share HD media collections from anywhere in the home, directly on HDTV.
The LaCinema Classic HD has an external hard drive to load media from your Mac or PC. From there, it becomes quite easy to connect the HDTV for “instant playback” of your video, music, or even photo files. Did I mention that it holds more than 1 terabyte of storage? Well, it does.
It can also work in sync with your home network, which can act as a media server to stream content to compatible players like the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3. It plays DivX format from high-quality MKV H264 video format via HDMI 1.3 connection. It also has “uncompromising support for Dolby Digital audio quality enhances the LaCinema Classic HD, as well as your entertainment viewing experience”.
The LaCinema Classic HD has a “timeless and sleek design” that includes a remote control and easy navigation. There is a front USB port for connecting to a USB drive or digital camera.
You should be able to get the LaCinema Classic HD for about $249.99 on the LaCie website. Unfortunately, it is out of stock for now.
